Choosing Your Template

One of the first things you will need to do is choose a template for your website. There are a variety of templates to choose from in the Setup Wizard.

Most websites arrange content in the form of columns which scale vertically, accommodating more content as it is added. Content is usually housed in floating block elements (called divs) which stack down the columns, allowing you to add or remove them as whole parts without disrupting the flow of the overall page. This produces a simple, yet effective layout that is pleasing, uncluttered, and presents information in an organized manner.

Insty-Site templates start off like this, most containing two or three columns, but can be altered anyway you choose. Insty-Site attempts to make many of the more complex operations quicker and easier so that one does not need to be an experienced website owner to produce an effective website.

Sample Templates

The left and right columns are typically used for menus and small blocks of content, website widgets, and user-interactive features. The middle column is the presentation space where the bulk of the content on your pages will be displayed. Stretching across the top is the header, consisting of two parts: logo and header background. At the bottom of the page is a footer, containing a few important links which are not on other menus.

Once you have chosen a starting template, you can either leave it as is or you can tailor it to suit your specific needs. Tailoring and editing can be accomplished via the Manage Template feature in the back-office.
