Usergroups & Permissions

Insty-Site allows you to set what your users can and cannot do based on permission settings applied to the group.

Usergroup Name
Enter a very short name for this group. Names should be between 3 and 20 characters in length.

Redirect
Select the page to which you would like to direct users of this group upon login.

Access Admin Panel
Grant access to the back-office of the website. Only admin and moderator groups should have this permission. Default setting is "None".

Website Access
This setting allows access to the main website. This should be set to "Allowed Access" unless you do not want a given group to access the site. Denying access to the Guests usergroup will make the website private for all users not logged in.

Site Settings and Options
This allows users of this group to change website settings and options. This is a critical function that is best left for admin users.

File Manager
This grants access to the file manager. There are several levels of access. They are, in order from least permission to most: None, Read Only, Write, Delete Access.

Archives
All content archives have multiple levels of access. They are, from least permission to most: None, Read Only, Write, Edit Own, Delete Own, Edit Own Group, Delete Own Group, Global Edit, Full Access.

Utility Functions
Utility functions are items that are not assigned to owners, such as users who contribute weblogs. There are fewer levels of access available, in order: None, Read Only, Write, Global Edit, Full Access.

Tools and Statistics
These are miscellaneous items which typically belong only to the admin usergroup. Some may impact website functions and logging. The Tools and Search Engine crawler may control website behavior and access to content, so it has only two levels of access. Logs may be purged by a user permitted to do so, therefore it has three levels of permissions.

Add Usergroup
Enter a new usergroup name.

Manage Usergroups
Allows you to edit permissions for a specific usergroup.
