Weblogs

Weblogs are bodies of text-based content arranged in an archive to which additional entries can be added on a frequent basis. Weblogs are arranged into categories which represent different archives. By default, Insty-Site provides two categories: Blogs and News. These categories can be renamed to anything you desire or you may add more. You will need to create PHP blocks to display any additional categories you create.

Adding a Weblog

Category
Select the category for your new weblog.

Title
Enter a brief title for your weblog. Titles are required to be between 3 and 255 characters.

Preview Text
Your homepage may display a preview for your weblog either by sampling the body of the text or using a specific preview that you enter here. The preview text can be empty.

Release Date
If you would like your weblog to appear in your archive at a future date, you may set the release date ahead of the current date.

Thumbnail
This optional addition to your weblog can be used as a visual preview where your weblogs are displayed.

Weblog Body
Enter the body of your weblog. It is advised that only simple HTML is used. Copying and pasting from some rich text editors (i.e. Microsoft Word) may cause unwanted results.

Manage Weblogs
This feature allows you to edit existing weblog entries. If you choose to edit a weblog, you will see a form similar to the Adding a Weblog form. All you need to do is make whatever changes you want and click Submit.

Add Weblog Category

Category
Enter a category name.

URL Name
Each weblog category produces a corresponding XML file for syndication. Select the page that will be referenced to display the weblogs in this category.

Index Type
This setting controls how these weblogs display on your home page. You can either show the full weblog, show a short sample of it by truncating it, or show the short preview you enter.

Home Blog Count
Determines how many weblogs will appear on your home page.

Blog Archive Threshold
This feature is for new websites with little content. If there are fewer than the number of blogs you enter here, they are displayed entirely in the archive list. Otherwise, blogs are displayed in list view for visitors to select individually.

Use Thumbnails
Choose whether or not you want to display thumbnails for your weblogs, in addition to the index type you previously set.

Thumbnail Width
Select a width size for the thumbnails in this category.

Maintain RSS Feed
Select whether or not you want this weblog to maintain a RSS feed.
